Sergio Rico, the 30-year-old goalkeeper for Paris Saint-Germain, whose contract runs until 2024, opened up during an interview with the Spanish radio station COPE.

He is gradually returning to normal life. Several months after his accident, PSG goalkeeper Sergio Rico revealed details of his months of recovery. “I’m getting a little better every day, but I’m not yet at 100% medically. I stay in Seville to avoid having to take a plane every time I need to undergo tests here. I lost nearly 20 kilos after the accident.”

“I weighed around 91-92 kilos. I dropped to 73. But now I’m back up to 88 kilos. I saw the photos when I left the hospital; I looked like a toothpick.”

“I constantly write to my doctor to find out when he will let me resume sports. I can’t wait to get back to my routine, to feel like a footballer. But it’s not in my hands. I respect the orders of the doctors who are taking care of me and who saved my life. I can’t wait for them to grant me a little more freedom because I feel good. I sleep wonderfully, like a baby!”
