PSG has announced the entry of the new minority shareholder, Arctos Sports, into the club’s capital: and this will change everything for the future stadium project.

Until now, three options were on the table for PSG: buying and renovating the Parc des Princes, buying and renovating the Stade de France, or building a new stadium. According to Le Parisien, the idea of relocating to the Stade de France, despite the submitted candidacy, would be ruled out with this new shareholder.

The Americans from Arctos Sports “are rather ambitious on the subject and claim to have significant financial resources to resolve this stadium issue and make it an extraordinary facility. But not under any conditions or circumstances. They make it clear that if Anne Hidalgo continues to make this issue a political question, they will look elsewhere,” explains Le Parisien. The Parc des Princes could therefore be abandoned.

“The opportunity to settle at the Stade de France is no longer really relevant. The possibility remains to start from scratch and build a new stadium. An hypothesis that does not frighten Arctos at all. While the situation is currently frozen, both the City of Paris and the club feel the need to resume discussions and try to establish a climate of trust.”
