Luis Rubiales offers his apologies following his forced kiss on Jennifer Hermoso’s cheek after Spain’s victory in the World Cup final.

He had dismissed the criticism on Monday morning. A few hours later, he changes his stance. In a video, Luis Rubiales, president of the Spanish Football Federation, apologizes for his imposed kiss on Jennifer Hermoso.

“‘We were in a historic moment, one of the most beautiful days in the history of Spanish football. We’ve worked hard within the Federation, and we are very proud. There’s a situation I regret between the player and myself.'”

“‘I want to apologize for all that it has caused. We have a wonderful relationship, her and I, as with the other players. I made a mistake, I must admit. It was without ill intention in a moment of euphoria. Here, we experienced it as something natural, but outside, there was an uproar. It overshadowed the celebration and the credit that belongs to the team.'”
