Ousmane Dembélé to PSG? Not so fast, according to L’Equipe, nothing is finalized.

Recent reports in the Spanish press and from Foot Mercato suggested that Paris Saint-Germain had reached a contractual agreement with Ousmane Dembélé for a 5-year deal. The activation of a release clause, negotiated last summer, was said to be part of the deal, with the current value set at €50 million until August 1st, after which it would double.

While Foot Mercato estimated that half of the release clause would go to the player and his agent, PSG has denied to L’Équipe that an imminent arrival of Ousmane Dembélé at the club is planned. The situation surrounding Kylian Mbappé, whose departure still seems possible, may influence the outcome of this transfer saga. Therefore, further developments will need to be closely monitored.

L’Equipe discussed the matter on Saturday and stated that “according to sources close to the French player, nothing has changed, and a departure in the coming days is not currently envisaged, although these sources confirm an approach from the capital club.”

“Mateu Alemany, Barcelona’s Director of Football, who is familiar with lengthy and challenging negotiations with the player’s agent, and the Catalan club, do not seem worried for now, even though Dembélé’s current salary (€13 million gross excluding bonuses and incentives) could substantially increase in Paris,” assured L’Equipe.
